Tesla has leased a warehouse of 245,000 square feet in Washington State

Tesla has agreed to lease a big new warehouse in Marysville, Washington, about 30 minutes north of Seattle. This isn’t the first time Tesla has attempted to secure a large warehouse in Washington State, as it was previously reported that the manufacturer was in talks for a 220,000-square-foot facility in 2021, which never materialized.

Unlike the 2021 rumor, the Puget Sound Business Journal reports that Tesla has formally signed a lease for a 245,619-square-foot building at the Cascade Industrial Center at 16015 51st Ave. NE, a 5.1 million square foot industrial park.

The industrial park is still under construction, but Tesla’s building is the first project completed at the site, according to an update from general contractor Sierra Construction Company on March 27, 2023. The building sits on a 19.5-acre parcel with 3,600 feet of storefront, 36′ clear height, and over 300 parking and trailer stalls. The company doesn’t name the tenant of the building but says interior improvements have already begun, without providing a date for when Tesla will officially be able to occupy and begin operating in the space.

Tesla has not disclosed their latest lease, but according to Biz Journals, the property will be used as a parts and assembly plant.

Tesla’s real estate portfolio continues to expand with this latest addition. They recently leased a 1 million square foot facility in Houston, Texas for cell production and parts storage and distribution. Another lease was signed last year for a warehouse in San Antonio with 440,000 square feet of space used to store manufacturing components for Giga Texas. In Illinois, Tesla leased a 660,000-square-foot warehouse at the Gateway Tradeport development near St. Louis.

Despite the fact that Tesla has not signed leases for comparable enormous warehouses in Canada, they have acquired two leases for forthcoming Service Center locations in Hamilton, Ontario, and Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, each of which exceeds 60,000 square feet.
